LENNIE
GALLANT NOMINATED FOR 2 CANADIAN FOLK MUSIC AWARDS
The
2006 Canadian Folk Music Awards nominations were
announced in Edmonton on Wednesday. Lennie Gallant is up for Best
Singer, which also has nominations for Bruce Cockburn,
Stephen Fearing and Ron Hynes. He is also up for Best
Songwriter for his new album When We Get
There. This year's Canadian Folk Music Awards will
be presented at a ceremony on December 10 th, at 7:30pm, at the
Myer Horowitz Theatre in Edmonton.
Gallant is on the road these days in Ontario following dates in
Alberta, BC, and Cape Breton. He also was throughout the northeastern
U.S. on a radio tour and while in that part of the world attended
the film premiere of the movie Canvas
in which Gallant's song "Mademoiselle (Voulez-vous
Danser)," performed by Jimmy Buffett,
played a major role. The film stars Marcia Gay Harden
(Mystic River), Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, Sopranos)
and newcomer Devon Gearhart.
